UAE- DHA signs MoU with Standing Committee for Labour Affairs

DUBAI, 18th February, 2018 (WAM) -- The Dubai Health Authority, DHA, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Standing Committee for Labour Affairs in the Emirate of Dubai to enhance health and safety of the labours.

Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board, Director-General of the DHA has said that the UAE, since its inception, has established laws and regulations to ensure the rights of labour workers, and their wellbeing and safety, enabling the country to embrace more than 200 nationalities from all over the world.

He added that all the laws and regulations that safeguard the rights of workers are based on the values that characterises the UAE's society. It is also based on the origins of the state and its culture, which established the principles of coexistence.

Al Qutami made these statements during the signing of a MoU with the Standing Committee for Labour Affairs in the Emirate of Dubai on Sunday.

The MoU was signed by Al Qutami and Major General Obaid Muhair Bin Surour, Deputy Director of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai and Chairman of the Standing Committee for Labour Affairs.

The MoU aims to open cooperation between both parties to enhance the healthcare of labour workers in Dubai, raise awareness among them about leading a healthy lifestyle, and educate them on how to maintain their health and fitness. The MoU is also aims to increase their interaction with health campaigns that provide free comprehensive medical examinations. It also aims to increase the level of satisfaction amongst workers and support them in having a healthy environment in both their housing and workplace.

Al Qatami noted that quality healthcare is one of the priorities of the UAE in general and Dubai in specific, which is why the DHA exerts great effort to preserve the health and safety of labour workers through ongoing health awareness and prevention campaigns. It also conducts free medical examinations for them at their living camps and workplaces.
