Gulfood 2018 from today Omani firms to put best foot forward

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The sultanate, represented by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), will take part in the 23rd edition of one of world's largest annual food and hospitality events – Gulfood 2018.

The exhibition will be held from February 18 to 22 at Dubai World Trade Centre, stated a press release.

This year, the exhibition will witness the participation of 120 national pavilions including Estonia, Serbia and Slovakia that are participating for the first time. More than 5,000 local, regional and international companies representing 120 countries will feature their products and services at the event.

Hamood al Balushi, director of Omani Products' Department at PEIE's Directorate General of Marketing and Media, said that PEIE is always keen to participate at Gulfood and this is its sixth consecutive participation.

'This is indeed a major global event, and the local companies and factories are always keen to take part in the event under the sultanate's pavilion. This keenness constantly pushes us to increase the space reserved for the pavilion, so that more companies from the sultanate's food sector can join the event and feature their products and services to the various segments of visitors including consumers, manufacturers, distributors, and investors,' Balushi said.

He emphasised that Gulfood exhibition offers a valuable opportunity to promote the locally manufactured products and highlight the high quality Omani products. This will eventually play a role in achieving the objectives of the 'Origin Oman' campaign that aims at promoting and marketing Omani products and thus find new markets for these products at regional and international levels.

PEIE organised an extensive internal and external campaign throughout the previous years to promote Omani products including promotional activities and mobile exhibitions in various governorates of the sultanate. PEIE has also joined hands with Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and Ithraa by organising Omani Products Exhibitions (OPEX) in a number of GCC and international cities.

Balushi added that this year, a number of Omani companies and factories representing the food industry will take part in the event.

The five-day exhibition will present an apt platform to learn about strategies that affect the food industry.
