Abe, Trump agree to keep pressure on N Korea in phone call

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and US President Donald Trump that their two nations will keep up the pressure on North Korea until Pyongyang abandons its nuclear and missile programs.

Japan's Foreign Ministry said the two leaders confirmed in their conversation that there would be "no meaningful dialogue" unless North Korea agreed on "complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization."

"Dialogue for the sake of dialogue would be meaningless," Abe reportedly told a press briefing after his phone call with Trump.
