Ukraine to spend about UAH 18 bln on roads of national importance in 2018


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) About UAH 18 billion will be allocated for the construction and repairs of public roads of state importance in 2018, according to acting Deputy Head of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor), Oleksandr Kharchenko.

"In general, we intend to allocate about UAH 18 billion for the construction and repairs of the state network [of roads] this year," he said at a press conference at Ukrinform.

Kharchenko specified that among the roads, which will be repaired under certain budget programs, are the routes Lviv-Ternopil-Vinnytsia-Uman-Odesa-Mykolaiv (for the sum of UAH 4 billion); Kyiv-Kharkiv-Luhansk (UAH 2 billion); Kharkiv - Okhtyrka (UAH 2 billion) and others.

The official noted that for the implementation of relevant programs in Ukraine, contracting organizations are needed.

"In the medium term, we plan construction, reconstruction, minor and medium repairs in accordance with the program for the development of public roads of state importance for 2018-2022, which we have developed and submitted to the Infrastructure Ministry for approval," he said.

Kharchenko added that according to this program, the main task is to connect all regional centers of the country with quality roads within five years.
