By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend:

The Turkish Foreign Ministry considers Syria as an ally in the fight against terrorism, the Turkish media reported Feb. 7.

'I believe that the Syrian government is in solidarity with Turkey in the fight against the YPG terrorist group, as it intends to split Syria,' said Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Casvusoglu.

If there are no diplomatic relations between Turkey and Syria, this does not mean that they have different views on fighting against YPG terrorists, he noted.

The Consulate General of Syria continues to operate in Istanbul.

On Jan. 20, the Turkish Armed Forces, together with the Free Syrian Army, launched the Operation Olive Branch in Afrin, Syria.
