Audi headquarters searched again

(MENAFN) German state prosecutors have searched Audi AG headquarters on Tuesday, due to its diesel emission scandal, which is the second raid since the beginning of 2018.

Reportedly, 18 prosecutors have conducted the operation in the German carmaker headquarters in the city of Ingolstadt and its offices at the plant in Neckarsulm, southern German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, looking for evidence relating to the emission manipulation.

Prosecutors believe that the company sold over 210,000 diesel-engined cars equipped with cheating software in the US and Europe since 2009, which would be turned on to help cars go through lab tests, but it will be turned off when the cars are on the road.

According to an Audi spokesperson, the company will cooperate with the investigators and provide required data.
