Al Bahie Auction House, Qatar's leading auction house, held a special auction in celebration of Qatar National Day that was aptly titled, ‘Made For Qatar'.
The celebratory auction was held at Al Bahie's main saleroom at Katara Cultural Village in the presence of society's dignitaries who flocked down to the auction house to bid on the items that were curated specifically to highlight the monumental occasion.
'Al Bahie Auction House was proud to hold the ‘Made For Qatar' auction that aims to celebrate the heritage and the tradition of this culture-rich country stated, Jennifer Bishop, Director of Al Bahie Auction House.
'The diverse items up for bidding were curated specifically to compliment the theme of the auction held in celebration of Qatar National Day she added.
Highlights included one of the original Tamim Al Majd paintings, a unique Tamim Al Majd pendant necklace from the Qatari brand Nouf Jewellery designed in collaboration with the Qatari artist Ahmed al Maadheed, a limited edition ‘Made for Qatar' Aigner Cybill bag, a special red velvet and a grey abaya designed by Star Suhail, and a custom Qatar National Day cape designed by Sarah al Saleh, a version of which was recently worn by celebrity Kim Kardashian.
The auction also featured a selection of pashmina ghutras and rare shahtoosh ghutras, all hand-embroidered with unique designs in both fashionable colours and the distinctive Qatari-maroon as well as a selection of swords, both modern and antique, including a replica of ‘The Founder's Sword' used by Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammad Al Thani, as well as, the highly coveted Qatari plate numbers ‘97400' and ‘1218'.
