Oman- Foundation stone laid for RO385mn Quriyat integrated tourism complex project

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Quriyat will soon get its first integrated tourism complex (ITC) project, which is to be developed over three five-year phases at an estimated total budget of RO385mn.

On Monday, H E Ahmed bin Nasser bin Hamad al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism, along with a delegation of senior government and company officials, visited the site for the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Quriyat Tourism Complex.

The seaside project will comprise a golf course, freehold units, a water park, and three-, four- and five-star hotels. While offering residence to people, it will also be its own tourist destination, open to the public.

It will be located within the vicinity of other tourist attractions, such as Wadi Dayqah, Hawiyat Najm Park and Wadi Shab. The project is a joint venture between Al Madina Real Estate and Fadhaa al Khaleej Company, with the venture being called Quriyat Development Company (QDC).

The Ministry of Tourism signed a contract in March last year with the company. During the signing ceremony, H E Mehrzi was reported as saying, 'This project aligns with the ministry's efforts in developing the eastern coast of Oman through various tourism projects.

'The development falls within the framework of the Tourism Strategy of Oman 2040, as well as the National Programme for Enhancing Economic Diversification 'Tanfeedh', which aims at enhancing the natural and cultural elements to grow tourism across Oman. The Quriyat ITC project will positively reflect on the economic and social levels especially for the citizens of Quriyat who will directly benefit from the development and subsequent operations.'
