DOHA: Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE), one of the longest-running exhibitions in Qatar, marks its 15th edition with a rich showcase of more than 400 brands from over 10 countries as well as fresh features and services, organisers announced yesterday.
To be held from February 21 to 26 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC), DJWE 2018 will feature an extensive display of classic and contemporary luxury collections by internationally recognised brands and designers.
Spread on a 29,000sqm exhibition space, the show comprises 41 exhibitors from Qatar, USA, India, Italy, France, Lebanon, Bahrain and Turkey. New exhibitors include Zabarjad & Diamond and Atamant Jewellery from Qatar, DJULA from France, Armanor Jewelry from Lebanon, and Expert Expo from Turkey.
As one of the largest luxury exhibitions in the region, the highly-anticipated annual exhibition is expected to attract an increasing number of international influencers and key personalities from the industry, said organisers.
'This year's edition of DJWE is being held for the 15th consecutive year, and the large number of participants from different countries shows the confidence that international, regional and local brands have for the exhibition, as it provides a networking platform for companies and visitors in Qatar and beyond. DJWE is a great display of Qatar's exhibition and conference infrastructure capabilities which includes showrooms, facilities and world-class organisers, said Ahmed Al Obaidli, Director of Exhibitions at Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) at a press conference yesterday at Shangri-La Doha Hotel.
'The Prime Minister and Interior Minister, H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani's continued support for DJWE reflects our leadership's commitment to pushing the boundaries of excellence, as one of the development and growth elements of tourism in Qatar, said Al Obaidli.
Unique workshops and bespoke events will be held on the sidelines of the exhibition set to offer visitors, luxury consumers and connoisseurs, opportunity to enjoy, learn about and buy their favourite pieces.
This year's exhibition returns with its Young Qatari Designers (YQDs) initiative, which is patroned by H E the Prime Minister and Interior Minister. The YQDs initiative this year will shine a spotlight on three new and three returning talented Qatari designers including Nada Al Sulaiti (Hairaat); Nouf Al Meer (Nouf Jewellery) ; Ghada Al Buainain; Leila Abu Issa (Leila Issam Fine Jewellery); Shikha Mohamed- Al Ghla Jewellery; and Jawaher & Hissa Mohammed Al Mannai (Ghand Jewellery).
'This initiative provides the young designers a unique platform to showcase their new collections alongside renowned international brands. It is important to give these designers platform to showcase and sell their works. Many of the young designers don't have their own showrooms and this exhibition will provide them the opportunity to get in touch with the market and to continue being in the market, said Mazen Abd Rabbo, Vice-President of Auditoire, Middle East.
QTA's partnership with Auditoire for the delivery of DJWE 2018 comes as part of QTA's efforts to support and promote the growth of Qatar's private sector, by providing local companies with opportunities to organise exhibitions and lead the business events sub-sector.
Iconic French Auction House Artcurial will provide watch enthusiasts, visitors and collectors free consultations, valuations and share knowledge about the industry. French watchmaking expert, Objectif Horlogerie will conduct a master workshop, which will include an accredited diploma for each participant.
The exhibition will host a variety of new experiences for exhibitors and visitors, from the one-day DJWE Forum and daily industry talks, through to watches and jewellery workshops.
For the first time, the exhibition will offer a kids' playground where parents can leave their children while visiting the exhibition.
