Association of Arab Universities takes part in the Arab Council for Higher Studies deliberations


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Jan. 7 (Petra)-Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities, Sultan Abu-Orabi Al-Adwan, took part in the deliberations of the annual meeting of the Arab Council for Higher Studies and Scientific Research, held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

Abu-Orabi siad the event discussed the council's five-year strategy and concrete steps aimed to develop the higher education sector in the Arab world, with eye to bolster research corpus set to be published.

The council recommended Arab universities to convene scientific gatherings of their scientific research deans to benefit from applied research efforts in the fields of water, energy, ecology, medicine and nutrition, he pointed out.

Commenting on why the Arab scientific research lags behind, he said shortage of funding, absence of effective research infrastructure, and brain drain are among the key reasons.
