Grain exports of Ukraine expected to decline

(MENAFN) According to a senior government official, for the first time in five years, grain exports of Ukraine will decline this marketing year.

The country's First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Maksym Martynyuk said the country is expected to export 41m tons of cereals in the 2017-2018 marketing year, in comparison with 43.8m tons in the previous marketing year.

The main reason behind the decline is the logistic issues, above all, lack of rail grain carriers, according to Martynyuk.

Since the beginning of the 2017-2018 marketing year, the country has exported 20m tons of grain, which is a 7% drop from the same period of a year before.
