(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Rabat – 's hotels and tourist establishments recorded 401,653 overnight stays at the end of October 2017, against 322,469 during the same period a year earlier, registering a 25 percent increase, according to Tetouan's provincial delegation of.
During the ten first months of 2017, foreign tourists spent 120,559 overnight stays in , recording a 16 percent increase year-on-year. For their part, domestic tourists overnight stays totaled 281,094, marking a 29 percent increase or an average stay of 3 additional days compared to October 2016, revealed a report from the delegation.
The various classified hotel units in Tetouan posted during this period 143,679 arrivals against 122,236 during the same period last year, registering an increase of 18 percent.
During the same period, the number of international tourists visiting the city stood at 40,300, marking an increase of 23 percent year-on-year, while domestic tourists totaled 103,379, up 16 percent compared to October 2016, with an occupancy rate of 32 percent against 31 percent last year.
French tourists come at the top of the list of foreign visitors who traveled to Tetouan during this period (9,281), followed by Spaniards (8,886), Americans (4,518), Arabs (3,348), Belgians (1,833), British (891), Dutch (861), German (834) and Swiss (495).
Four-star hotels and tourist establishment are travelers' favourite destination with 42,616 tourists, followed by 3 stars establishments at 35,952, residential hotels at 15,179, one star at 14,966, 2 stars at 14,918, hotel clubs at 6,841 and guest houses with 2,225 arrivals, says the source.
In terms of overnight stays, at the end of October 2017, the 4-star establishments registered 116,371 overnight stays, followed by 3 stars hotels (93,241), hotel residences (55,240), hotel clubs (50,407) and 5-star hotels (37,109), 2 stars (25,509), one star (20,152), guest houses (3,624).
In October 2017 alone, over 11,816 tourists visited Tetouan compared to 11,518 in October 2016, marking a 3 percent increase, noted the report. Over the same month, the number of overnight stays stood at 23,132, recording an increase of 16 percent year-on-year, with an occupancy rate of 21 percent.
The delegation reported that August, September and July recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals in Tetouan, with occupancy rates of 65, 31 and 58 percent respectively.
