(MENAFN- The Conversation) I am a social anthropologist with the Centre for Children and Young People and I am currently developing a new program of research which builds synergies between the interdisciplinary fields of childhood studies and tourism studies in order to advance knowledge informed by children and young people in the diverse tourism contexts of our increasingly globalised world.
My doctoral thesis explored how children and young people negotiate space, identity and belonging when growing up in a popular tourist destination. My research interests include childhood studies; the social and cultural dimensions of tourism; ethnographic, participatory and visual methodologies; the ethical dimensions of research with children and young people; and youth cultures.
I am also developing my interests in children and young people's understandings of nature and their environmental awareness and sensitivity towards local and global environmental problems.
