USHCC Applauds Comcast and AT&T

(MENAFNEditorial) Washington D.C., Dec. 21, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Our friends at Comcast are celebrating the anticipated gains of the New Year by promising to create better jobs, invest in infrastructure and increase bonuses for employees.

On Wednesday, Brian Roberts, Chairman and CEO of Comcast NBCUniversal, announced that over one hundred thousand frontline and non-executive employees would be receiving a $1,000 bonus before the year is out. He also announced that the company would be investing over $50 billion in infrastructure over the next five years.

'This is more than just a 'win' for Comcast employees. This is a 'win' for every consumer that uses Comcast's services,' said Javier Palomarez, President & CEO of the USHCC. 'Mr. Roberts has made it clear that these investments will radically improve the quality of our internet services, televisions, and much more.'

Similarly, AT & T will be awarding 200,000 of its frontline employees with bonuses of $1,000. CEO Randall Stephenson also promised a $1 billion investment in the United States in 2018.

Comcast and AT & T attribute their generous bonuses and promises to invest to the reduction in the corporate tax rate and the repeal of FCC Title II internet regulations. Recently, the USHCC advocated on behalf of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which passed through our Congress today, and the repeal of the FCC Title II regulations, which were formally repealed last week. These policies, however imperfect, are already making a positive impact.

Policies like the reduction in the corporate tax rate do not inherently create economic growth. It is up to our corporations to take the money they will save from a lower tax rate and invest it in the American economy. 'We are proud to see our corporate partners taking initiative and committing to job creation, better wages and better services for consumers,' said Don Salazaar, Chariman of the Board at the USHCC.

On behalf of the USHCC, we commend Comcast and AT & T for demonstrating outstanding commitment to both employees and consumers.
