NAHT criticize artificial intelligence school inspection

(MENAFN) The National Association of Head Teachers condemned strategies to employ algorithms in recognizing weak schools.

So as to rate schools, a data science unit which is part-owned by the UK government has been training algorithms through machine learning, a form of AI. However, the NAHT urged that an effective inspection wasn't supposed to be based on data.

The union released a statement saying "we need to move away from a data-led approach to school inspection, it is important that the whole process is transparent and that schools can understand and learn from any assessment. Leaders and teachers need absolute confidence that the inspection system will treat teachers and leaders fairly."
