UAE- Jewellery trade gears for bumper sales during DSF

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group (DGJG) expects to have another bumper sales season during the upcoming Dubai Shopping Festival with sales crossing Dh10 billion.

Announcing a mega jewellery promotion for the 23rd edition of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), which will run from December 26 to January 27, 2018, the group said it is upbeat about the prospects of increased sales volumes across all participating outlets.

Tawhid Abdullah, chairman, Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group which represents more than 600 members of the gold trade, said during the impending edition of DSF, gold buyers stand a chance to win up to 33 kilos of gold in 33 days.

"Every day, three lucky shoppers will be rewarded at the daily draw that will be held at 8pm at the Deira Gold Souk. The first prize winner will receive 1/2 kg gold, the second and third lucky winners will take home 1/4 kg gold each. In all, there will be 100 lucky winners over the 33 days of DSF celebrations receiving gold prizes worth around Dh5 million," Abdullah said at a press conference.

Also present were Laila Suhail, permanent board member, DGJG and CEO, Strategic Alliances and Partnerships Sector, DTCM & Entities; Abdalla Hassan Al Ameeri, director, raffles and promotions, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, an agency of Dubai Tourism, and DSF organisers.

Abdullah said customers who purchase gold jewellery worth Dh500 would be entitled to one raffle coupon and customers who purchase diamond jewellery, pearl or watches worth Dh500 get two raffle coupons to take part in the daily raffle draws. Raffle coupons will be provided by all the participating jewellery outlets, kiosks and all terminals of Dubai Duty Free during the DSF.

"The DSF is one of the most sought-after events which people from all over the world look forward to. The DGJG's strategic association with the festival has been growing from strength to strength over the years," said Abdullah.

"We have always been complementing the DSF initiatives with jewellery promotion campaigns. We are very happy to state that our gold promotion is one of the major highlights of the festival and the gold winnings have made a huge difference, financially, in the lives of many winners. This year, we hope for an impressive sale season as the gold price is at very affordable levels. We look forward to welcoming shoppers from all over the world to have the best jewellery shopping experience and win kilos of gold," said Abdullah.

Al Ameeri said the DGJG has once again come forward to help keep up the momentum this DSF. "We expect thousands of visitors to arrive in Dubai during the DSF to grab special offers from participating gold and jewellery outlets, in addition to enjoying the exciting events and picking up more bargains."

Al Ameeri said he was confident the daily gold raffle would give a timely boost to the retail sector.

Chandu Siroya, vice-chairman of DGJG, said the success of the previous editions of the Group's DSF promotion campaigns have been instrumental in more retailers coming forward to associate with this year's promotion.
