Uzbekistan taking measures on energy efficiency

(MENAFN- AzerNews) By

Uzbekistan plans to implement 810 investment projects worth more than $5.3 billion for the development of renewable energy in 2017-2021.

Particularly, it is envisaged to build solar photovoltaic stations with a capacity of 100 megawatts each in the Samarkand, Navoi and Surkhandarya regions.

Starting from January 1, 2018, the solar water heating systems and energy-efficient heating boilers will be gradually installed in the typical rural houses under construction, according to an article of MPs of the Uzbek parliament's lower house, representing the Ecological movement of Uzbekistan.

Taking into account international requirements, state standards for renewable energy are also being developed, and two operating ones for wind energy and biogas installations are being revised.

According to the article, currently, renewable energy sources are practically not used in the production of electricity and heat.

Taking into account the population growth, increase in incomes of people, acceleration of urbanization processes and corresponding change in the structure of consumption, the demand for energy resources can increase by 2.5 times in the construction sector by 2030.
