Innovative National Day accessories and souvenir items have witnessed brisk sales attracting huge number of customers, said traders.

They said that local companies also made significant contribution in providing high quality National Day merchandise at reasonable prices to the local market.

'The products having some sort of innovation attracted huge number of customers, Abu Ahmad from a major outlet having so many branches across the country told The Peninsula.

Giving example of new National Day products, he said: 'One of our best-sellers are cups in which the image of Qatar's National flag emerges when hot water, tea or coffee is poured into. All the cups sold in just a few hours.

A transparent sticker bearing the famous Tamim Al Majd portrait is another National Day accessory which sells fast at Ahmad's shop.

'The good thing with this sticker is that it could be used to convert any item into a National Day accessory and look as it is part of the product not an accessory, said Abu Ahmad.

Huge quantities of National Day accessories and souvenirs which are imported from various countries including China, Turkey, India and Bangladesh are also available in the local market.

'We imported flags and many other items including trays, handbags, T-shirts, canvases, stickers, caps carrying National Day related insignias, images and messages in large stocks directly from China and Turkey.

Local companies, including home based micro-enterprises, have made significant contribution in providing high quality accessories at reasonable prices for the celebration of the National Day, said traders.

They said that there is high demand for local products because they are made of high quality materials.

'We sell large stocks of Qatar's flags and many other locally produced items like handbags, stickers, T-shirts, mufflers and caps carrying imagesof Tamim AlMajd and Qatar, said Nurullah of a commercial outlet.

Speaking to The Peninsula, Nurullah said that local products have pretty good demand especially from the citizens because of their good quality.

'For example we display made in Qatar gift packs in large quantities which were all sold out very fast, he added.
