The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal' has announced that it will close a 1km stretch of the service road leading from Al Luqta Street to Al Markhiya Street, in order to enable construction and utility works in the area.

The proposed closure has been designed in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic. It will commence today and will be in place for a year and a half.

During this period, road users travelling westbound from Al Gharrafa Interchange along Al Luqta Street, will be required to continue straight on Al Luqta Street and turn right on to Umm Al Hawayer Street, take a right on to Al Ittihad Street, and then turn left to join Al Markhiya Street and continue their journey, as shown in the attached map. The Public Works Authority will install road signs advising motorists of the closure. ‘Ashghal' requests all road users to abide by the speed limit, which has been lowered to 50 kph, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
