Pakistan- District admin reclaims 55 marlas grabbed land from influential


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) BANNU, 17 December: The district administration has reclaimed 55 marlas valuable government land from the possession of an influential land grabber, said a statement issued here on Sunday.

Officials of the district administration and revenue department along with police personnel launched the operation in Domail bazaar here and demolished walls constructed around the two kanals and 15 marla valuable government land. The administration fixed a board on the land warning people that the said piece of land is the property of the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) and anybody who tries to interfere in it, would be proceeded against as per law.

According to officials of the revenue department, the land was grabbed by the family of an influential local, Baber Nawaz in 2008, who is reportedly backed by powerful politicians and other people.

It merits a mention here that local people have held a number of protest rallies against the illegal occupation of the land and they have been demanding from the government to reclaim it and used it for establishing a bus station.
