Al Rayyan Interchange flyover opens

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Al Rayyan Interchange flyover, which is part of Al Rayyan Road Upgrade project (Phase II) was formally opened on Sunday in the presence of a number of senior officials.

Ashghal's assistant president and senior engineer Abdullah Hamad al-Attiyyah, Expressway Department manager Yousef al-Emadi, Traffic Engineering and Safety head Brigadier Mohamed Marafiya were among those present along with a number of Ashghal's project engineers.
The new bridge is 1km-long with two lanes in one direction, connecting traffic from Al Amir Street and Doha Expressway with New Al Rayyan Road.
The key overpass provides an alternate direct route from areas of Al Sadd and Al Waab to New Al Rayyan Road towards areas of Al Rayyan, Bani Hajer and Dukhan, sparing Al Rayyan Roundabout and the diversions in Old Al Rayyan.

Al-Emadi said Al Rayyan Interchange flyover was part of the construction of Al Rayyan Road Upgrade project (Phase II). It was built to cross traffic over 22 February Road to alleviate traffic pressure on the Al Rayyan Interchange roundabout and allow travellers coming from Central Doha via Doha Expresssway and areas of Al Sadd and Al Waab towards Al Rayyan, Bani Hajer and Dukhan to use the bridge to New Al Rayyan Road, and eventually, reducing travel time.
Ashghal had opened in the last few days of key parts of the expressway network through a number of projects including Lusail Expressway, Khalifa Avenue and Al Rayyan Road Upgrade Phase II.
As the implementation pace of expressway projects has been accelerated, the main and new sections opened in conjunction with National Day celebrations, before the end of 2017.
It is worth mentioning that the Public Works Authority has achieved many progresses on the whole expressway and infrastructure projects in 2017 thanks to its acceleration of the construction by the advent of 2017. Despite challenging situations, Ashghal could accomplish huge and vital parts of expressway projects, featuring approximately 400km of the Expressway Programme.
