(MENAFN- KNN India) As Industry in Punjab strike protesting tariff, Minister Say incentive modalities being worked out
New Delhi, Dec 16 (KNN) The Industry bodies including the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) bodies announced going on indefinite hunger strike protesting the delay in implementation of revised pricing on electricity, responding to which the State Power Minister say that the government is committed to fulfilment of the promise.
The Power and Irrigation Minister of Punjab Rana Gurjit Singh in an attempt to assure the industry said that the government is committed to the promise it made with regard to the revision of electricity tariff.
The Minister said that reduction in the price to Rs 5 per unit is still the stance of the government; however the delay is due to the formalities and modalities in the implementation of the norm.
Singh said that as soon as things fall in right places, the notification will be in action as the industry has been demanding.
Earlier, talking to KNN, Badish Jindal, President of Federation of Punjab Small Industries Association (FOPSIA) informed that the industry representatives are to go on indefinite hunger strike since despite assurances, the government has not done anything to reduce the power tariffs for the industry.
Jindal said that along with the high power tariff, the problem further extends to the PSERC charging the industry retrospective pricing and also plans to roll out two part tariff structure from next year. (KNN/ DA)
