Kuwait- Turkish courts give jail terms to six FETO members


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Dec 14 (KUNA) -- The high criminal courts in Kastamonu province, north Turkey, and in the eastern Erzurum province sentenced to prison six people on Thursday for links with the banned Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO).

The convicts include four former teachers in the in the Black Sea province of Kastamonu who received jail terms ranging between three and nine years, Turkey's Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.

Former head of the forensic department in the province was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison.

The High Criminal Court in Erzurum province sentenced to six years in prison a woman who was served as head of FETO's Kastamonu's Pasinler district.

FETO and its US-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the foiled coup attempt in July, 2016, which left 250 martyrs and nearly 2,200 injured.

Ankara also accuses the organization of leading a campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration into the state institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary. (end) rs.gb
