Filipino arrested for carrying a stun gun at Macau Airport

Police arrested a 28-year-old Filipino woman for trying to carry a flashlight stun gun on to a plane at Macau International Airport on Wednesday.

The woman named Sta was at a checkpoint area preparing for departure when a security guard found a pink flashlight inside her carry-on luggage, Macao Daily News reported.

He suspected it was stun gun, which has a similar effect to a cattle prod. The guard reported the incident to police.

After an initial investigation, they arrested the woman for alleged possession of "arms and explosives".

It was understood that Sta bought the flashlight stun gun in the Philippines for 500 peso (US$9.9) for protection.

She was unaware it was a restricted item at Macau International Airport.
