(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Ajman Municipality has prepared 65 pumping machines for water suction in squares, roundabouts, and streets that had witnessed water clogging during previous rains.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Abdurrahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, director-general of the Ajman Municipality, said it has completed its plans to face the challenges that occur during the rainy season.
Al Nuaimi added that the department has developed a contingency plan under the guidance of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, chairman of the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department. "The plans include the maintenance of equipment and machines used in draining clogged water and the preparation of workers team to clean all the main pipes and openings for any dirt and mud stuck inside it to ensure smooth drainage process."
He explained the teams will follow up the weather updates to intervene with emergency cases and verify the smooth flow of water on roads. "Workers are being deployed in all parts of the emirate to drain the water from the streets to prevent traffic congestion and ensure the safety of motorists."
Al Nuaimi said the roads and infrastructure department at the municipality has made every effort to prepare the current rainy season. All consulting and contracting companies operating in Ajman were instructed to cooperate during the bad weather conditions through a circular distributed to them. "The circular stipulates the need to verify safety certificates, ensure the safety of external elevators, metal scaffolds and the protection of walls around the sites in progress to avoid any risk."
