Emir inaugurates 'Made in Qatar' Exhibition

Doha: HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani inaugurated the fifth edition of 'Made in Qatar' Exhibition at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center on Thursday morning.

Emir toured the exhibition where he was briefed about the various national industries participating in the exhibition. HH listened to explanations about the most important projects and industries and their contribution to the Qatari economy. He also visited the pavilions of the sponsoring and participating companies in the exhibition and the pavilions and sections of the productive families and traditional crafts.

He was accompanied by HE Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani and a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers, members of Qatar Chamber's Board of Directors and businessmen.

About 320 manufacturing firms and 138 ‘home-based businesses' are participating in the four-daylong exhibition taking place at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.

Chairman of Qatar Chamber Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani said that the exhibition, held in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Industry and supported by Qatar Development Bank (QDB), is widely recognized by Qatari industrial companies this year.

This led to an increase in the exhibition space by 50 percent to about 30,000 square meters to accommodate all the companies wishing to participate in the exhibition.

He pointed out that the Chamber, based on its interest in productive families and the need to develop them to become a true nucleus for small enterprises, will have about 138 productive families displaying their products with a focus on hand crafts and Art craft, on the sidelines of the exhibition, an industrial forum will be held in which experts, economists and specialists will take part in a number of economic topics related to the development of local industries, in addition to reviewing some economic laws such as the Foreign Capital Investment Law and the Free Zone Authority Law.

Sheikh Khalifa stressed that Qatar Chamber is keen on organizing this national industrial exhibition regularly, as part of the QNV 2030. It aims to promote the Qatari industry and support the State's efforts towards industrial development.

In this context, he called on embassies of friendly countries to coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to participate to identify the various Qatari industries in order to open new markets and trade outlets and promote mutual trade growth with the countries of the world.

Free exhibition spaces have been offered to trade representatives in a number of foreign embassies in Doha to enable manufacturers and businessmen in Qatar to identify these markets and provide an opportunity to exchange experiences, information and techniques that can benefit the business sector in the country.
