Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan to exchange prisoners in 2018

The agreement between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan on exchange of persons sentenced to imprisonment will come into force on January 12, 2018.

Previously, Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Galymzhan Koishibayev met with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kazakhstan Rashad Mammadov to discuss the issue, the press service of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a message.

The sides swapped ratification documents of the Protocol on Amendments to the Treaty between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Azerbaijan on exchange of prisoners for further serving their sentence, during the meeting in the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

The document was signed in Astana on August 7, 2007 and was ratified on December 26, 2013.

In accordance with clause 1 of the mentioned contract, the protocol will enter into force 30 days after the exchange of the documents. (on January 12, 2018).

Koishibayev has also honored Mammadov with a "25 years of the diplomatic service of the Republic of Kazakhstan" commemorative medal, in accordance with the order of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov.
