Qatar University honours 105 employers

One hundred and five (105) employers were honoured by Qatar University (QU) in the 'Employer Recognition Ceremony yesterday held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in the presence of QU President Dr Hassan Al Derham, French Ambassador to Qatar Eric Chevallier, QU leaders, deans, faculty and staff, as well as representatives of local institutions from the public and private sectors.

Themed 'Partnering for Students' Success, the event was organised by QU Careers Services Center (CSC). It aimed to honour companies and institutions in different sectors who collaborated with QU colleges to train or sponsor their students during 2017. They were presented with trophies by Dr Hassan Al Derham in recognition of their contribution. The ceremony featured the screening of a video on QU colleges.

In his remarks, Dr Hassan Al Derham said: 'Since its inception, QU places the needs of the labor market and the local economy at the heart of its strategic vision. This is reflected through its various academic programs that meet the needs of the local economy. Over the past years, the University has developed its outcomes. In this regard, it is committed to equip its graduates with the knowledge and skills, such as analytical and critical thinking, that enable them to cope with the labor market's fluctuations.

CSC Director Maha Al Marri said: 'Based on the directives of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, QU is committed to shape a generation of professionals who are capable to assume their responsibilities and contribute to the fulfillment of Qatar National Vision 2030. This can be achieved through the continuous collaboration between QU and the various local institutions and sectors, which support QU students during their academic and professional journey.
