Pakistan- Man killed for sheltering victim of domestic violence in Charsadda

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) CHARSADDA: Unknown armed persons killed a man and injured three others including two children in the jurisdiction of Prang police station on Wednesday, the police said.

The victims have given shelter to a woman who ran away from her home in Upper Dir due to years of violence by her in-laws.

The women identified as Tamana addressed a press conference two days ago in Charsadda where she expressed her fears and appealed the police for protection from her family members and in-laws who wanted to kill her and the people who sheltered her.

The police said that Murad Khan along with his brother Shaukat and two children were on way home when unknown armed persons opened fire on them near Choti bridge.

As a result, Shaukat died on the spot while Murad and the two children were injured who were shifted to a Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.

The culprits escaped after committing the crime. The police have nominated brother of Tamana Farhatullah and her cousin Ghani Rahman in the FIR.

The women, at the press conference, had claimed that she was not kidnapped by anyone rather taken shelter at her aunt house due to excessive abuse by her in-laws.

She said that her husband and in-laws would force her to demand share in her parents' property and severely beat her on refusal.

'When I would inform my brother about the demand, he use to threaten me with dire consequences,' she said, adding that even she would live in her in-laws house after her husband had divorced her.
