UAE- Equestrian book fair ends on high note

DUBAI, 13th December, 2017 (WAM) -- The first edition of the International Equestrian Book Fair was organised at the Royal Equestrian Club-Dubai, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, in cooperation with the Gulf, Arab international publishers who were honoured alongside partners and sponsors.

The wonderful closing ceremony saw distribution of certificates to 40 trainees who attended a course on the equestrian sports law and the organising committee honoured the media, including Emirates News Agency (WAM), for their outstanding coverage of the event.

Khalid Al Hussain, Director of the General Authority of Sports, accompanied by Mustafa Ali bin Ahmed Amshan, CEO of the club and Saif bin Mezaina, Chairman of the Board of Directors, honoured the participants, sponsors and lecturers at the symposium.

Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Ali Fadlallah, during a lecture titled "Certified Sports Arbitrator", addressed several topics, including the nature of sports arbitration, the nature of resolving sports disputes, types of sports disputes, the scope and authority of arbitral jurisdiction and the nature of arbitral proceedings Dr. Shams Al Maareef Bakhit, Legal Advisor at the Dubai Sports Council also delivered a lecture titled "Sports Governance".

The Organising Committee also honoured the advisor Mona Khalifa Al Shamsi, specialist in sports equestrian regulations and legislation and the chairperson of the Women's Equestrian Committee for the GCC States. She highlighted the "mechanisms for resolving disputes in equestrian sport".

The course included various topics, most notably the concept and definitions of equestrian, the legal aspects of the registration of riders in the equestrian federation, the structure of the National Sports Federation, the standing committees and their terms of reference, dispute settlement systems and the method of adjudication, the national internal system: the Disciplinary Committee, Emirates Arbitration Center.

Mustafa Ali Ahmed Amshan, Chief Executive Officer of Royal Equestrian Club, said, "We are delighted with the success of the event, the Dubai International Equestrian Book Fair and the first ever legal course."

Amshan said that the Royal Club contributed a number of innovative initiatives and events in the equestrian world in a short period of time. "These initiatives were inspired by the ideas of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and we are keen to be innovative and unconventional."

For his part, Saif Khalifa Matar Al Mezaina, Chairman of the Royal Equestrian Club, said, "The legal symposium and the Dubai International Equestrian Fair are the reflection of the directives of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum."
