Winners of Sheikh Jassim Qur'an contest honoured


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs honoured the winners of the 24th edition of Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohamed Bin Thani Holy Qur'an Competition at a ceremony held at the Sheraton Hotel, in the presence of HE Dr Ghaith bin Mubarak al-Kuwari, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, and representatives of Qur'anic competitions in a number of Arab and Islamic countries. Amna Abdul Rahim Tahan won the first place in the competition (the whole Qur'an category for citizens), followed by Abdullah Hamad Salem Abu Sharida in second place, while Abdul Aziz Abdullah Ali al-Hamri third, Mohamed Abdul Rashid Sheikh Sufi fourth, Abdul Aziz Saeed Helwan Abdullah in the fifth place. Mr Nasser bin Yusuf Al Sulaiti, Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Competition, announced the launch of a new category in current academic year's competition, in co-operation with Al-Rayyan channel and the Education Ministry.

Al-Marri briefs Italian official on unjust siege
Chairman of the NHRC Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri met Secretary General of Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation Elisabetta Belloni.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the effects of the siege imposed by the Saudi-led quartet on the Qatari people and means of co-operation.
