Cabinet approves Qatar's second NDS


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The regular Cabinet meeting, chaired by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, yesterday approved Qatar's Second National Development Strategy (NDS) (2018-2022) prepared by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics in co-ordination with the entities concerned.
The strategy includes aspects related to 2022; achievements, lessons learnt, continuing the support to implement Qatar National Vision 2030, economical performance and future prospects.
The strategy also includes institutional development, providing services and financial management.
In addition to the sustainability of economic prosperity, the strategy also included strengthening human development, proper social development, sustainable development that preserves the environment and managing the strategic performance.
The Prime Minister directed the ministries and other entities concerned to formulate plans and projects to implement the second strategy.
The Prime Minister said the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics will be in charge of following up the implementation of the strategy and provide periodic reports to the cabinet which will include what has been achieved, obstacles and solutions to these obstacles.
Following the meeting, HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs DrHassan Lahdan Saqr al-Mohannadi said the cabinet also approved the draft decision of the Minister of Municipality and Environment to adopt international standard specifications by Qatar.
The cabinet took the measures to ratify:
1. An agreement between the governments of Qatar and Singapore on encouraging and protecting mutual investments.
2. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the governments of Qatar and Indonesia to co-operate in the youth and sports fields.
3. An MoU to co-operate in the field of higher education between the governments of Qatar and Malaysia.
4. The cabinet took the required measures to ratify an MoU between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar and the Ministry of Education and Culture in Indonesia to co-operate in the education field.
5. An MoU in the health field between the governments of Qatar and Indonesia.
6. An MoU to co-operate in the health and medical sciences fields between the governments of Qatar and Sri Lanka.
The cabinet also approved a draft agreement to co-operate in the field of environment protection between the governments of Qatar and Armenia.
The cabinet reviewed and took the necessary measures on the memorandum of the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs regarding the conference on the suffering of the Palestinian children in light of Israel's violations of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and 37th session of Arab Council of Ministers of Social Affairs, both held in November 2017 in Kuwait.
