Attractions ranging between giants serving food, a four-day New Year's Eve extravaganza and beach festivals that will bring Jamaica, Barbados and the Caribbean islands to Abu Dhabi will mark the last month of this year. The countless events that combine food, street action and family activities are part of Advantage Events Abu Dhabi incentive which allocated Dh10mn to help the private sector develop their activities and boost attractions across the emirate to attract more visitors.
'To enable the industry to deliver, rather than delivering ourselves, we are moving from being an operator to an enabler and regulator. We want to develop a bigger calendar of events and encourage the private sector to make this move,' said Sultan al Dhaheri, acting executive director of the Tourism Sector at the Department of Culture and Tourism. Therefore, the incentive aims to develop Abu Dhabi events, from the capital to Al Ain, which will launch its annual Dar al Zain Festival to Madinat Zayed in a sustainable manner.
Travel Point has partnered with the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority to promote these spectacular events in Oman and encourage the residents of Oman to visit Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra for these events. With the lovely winter setting in the region, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority hopes to welcome a lot of visitors from Oman to attend these family events that are unique, interesting and a great way to spend the winter weekend outdoors.
The three programmes are Abu Dhabi Food Festival till December 23, Dar al Zain Festival in Al Ain from December 14 to 23 and New Year's Eve Countdown Village from December 28 to 31.
The Abu Dhabi Food Festival will run till December 23, with gastronomic activations and experiences as well as live demos across the emirate. Spread over 17 days and taking in three weekends, the festival will cook up a storm and bring food-lovers, families and friends together to enjoy cuisine from some of the best street food chefs as well as some of the most scrumptious food available in the region. There will also be several new features, from the Food-Truck-meets-fun fair Truckers Carnival and reggae-fuelled Caribbean Beach Feast to the culinary and cinematic 'Delicious Cinema' experience and fun family day out at the Big PikNik.
The first-ever Dar al Zain Festival will be taking place at Al Ain Convention Centre. The festival will offer a unique experience for family members of all ages. This winter season, the Al Ain region will host an outdoor village that will be packed with live entertainment, craft stalls and culinary delights, with the Garden City hosting families from across the UAE and wider region for a fun-filled ten days. This family getaway will feature a rich mix of entertainment activities including four live performances by Arab celebrities, 20 kids' entertainment shows and a host of unique family leisure experiences. It will also have more than 30 operators serving delectable menus in kiosks and food trucks to delight visitors as they enjoy shopping from over 45 exhibitors in the flagship retail zone.
The final accompaniments are now underway for the launch of the New Year's Eve Countdown Village, a four-day family event taking place in the Abu Dhabi Corniche from December 28 to 31. The festival will feature three stages, a retail zone, F & B rea, roaming entertainers, fireworks displays and New Year's Eve countdown timer. The celebrations will conclude with a concert, led by Hosny and Al Jassmi and supported by several other local performers, bands and DJs still to be revealed. This will be followed by a stunning laser, lights and confetti shower extravaganza as well as a memorable 15-minute firework display with dazzling pyrotechnic effects.
