(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Under the patronage of H H Sayyid Dr Fahad bin Aljulanda al Said, assistant secretary general for Innovation Development at The Research Council, the Office of the deputy vice chancellor for Postgraduate Studies & Research at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) organised the Internal Grants Research Forum on Wednesday.

The Internal Grants Research Forum at SQU is an annual event that is meant to showcase research projects funded from the varsity's internal grants. The forum is held to allow researchers from all fields to meet and discuss the latest developments, a press release stated. The event allowed experienced researchers as well as those who are starting out to interact in an open and supportive environment.

Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrooqi, deputy vice chancellor for Postgraduate Studies and Research at SQU said that this event would not only help build research calibre in the country, contributing greatly to the establishment of a rich and deep research culture, but will also allow younger researchers to learn from their more experienced peers.

'By linking researchers from SQU with various stakeholders from other research-oriented institutions, government, business, and the wider community, the forum would contribute to the creation of a broad research network across the sultanate. 'Such a network is vital for bringing knowledge and expertise to issues of local, national, and global importance in a collaborative, informed, and interdisciplinary manner.'

The forum saw paper presentations in several subjects. SQU academics, researchers and students, industry representatives, ministry representatives, and academics from higher education institutions in Oman attended the event.
