Sayyid Asa'ad attends OIC summit in Turkey


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Turkey- As delegated by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Sayyid Asa'ad bin Tariq al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan led Oman's delegation at the opening of the Extraordinary Summit of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Wednesday.

The summit which was held in Istanbul, Turkey saw the participation of OIC leaders and representatives. The summit was opened by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The summit discussed issues related to the recent US decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital and moving its embassy to Jerusalem.

Sayyid Asa'ad was accompanied by a delegation comprising Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah al Khalili, Minister of Justice, Sheikh Mohammed bin Said al Kalbani, Minister of Social Development, Dr Qasim bin Mohammed al Salhi, Oman's Ambassador to Turkey and Sayyid Dr Ahmed bin Hilal al Busaidi, Oman's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Permanent Delegate to OIC.

Also attending the meeting were Khalifa bin Hamad al Badi and Saif bin Ahmed al Sawafi, advisors in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, Sheikh Mussalam bin Suhail al Mashani, head of the International Organisations Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mohammed bin Nasser al Whaibi, head of the GCC Department in MoFA.
