Qatar- Details of Asian community cultural events outlined

As part of the Qatar National Day celebration,the Organising Committee of the Associated Activities of Qatar National Day Celebrations, yesterday announced the details of the Asian communities celebrations on this occasion.

'The community cultural events would be facilitated to enjoy the National Day festive moments for families and other community members as well as it would reveal the care of the State of Qatar to involve all expatriate communities in the celebrations providing them with an opportunity to show their love to the State, Brig. Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah Director of Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior said. 'More than 200,000 audiences from various communities are expected to attend the celebrations, he said at Civil Defense Officers' Club.

Eight Asian communities are participating in these celebrations like Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nepalese, Sri Lankan, Filipino, Indonesian and Malaysian. The activities will be held from around 2pm to 10pm.

The press conference was attended by community leaders and school representatives.

The Ministry of Interior has allocated seven venues for celebrations which include Al Wakra Sports Club, Al Rayyan Sports Club, Labour City, Barwa Al Baraha, Asian Town, Barwa Workers' Recreation Complex in Al Khor as well as an international cricket tournament at Asian Town cricket stadium. The performances of these events will be made by more than 6,000 students from 18 Asian schools. Also, free blood sugar screening will be provided to 16,000 workers along the celebrations at Asian Town.

Abdullah Muhammad Al Hajeri, general coordinator of 'Mawater said that the Mawater team would take part with 50 classic cars in the festivities in all venues in Doha starting from Labour City up to Barwa al Baraha in Doha Industrial Area.

Muhammed Al Jundi, spokesperson of 'Batabet center under the Ministry of Culture and Sports would participate in the event with 55 motorbikes starting from Labour City and ending at Barwa al Baraha.
