Kuwait- Stoltenberg's mandate as NATO chief extended


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Dec 12 (KUNA) -- NATO member states agreed Tuesday to extend Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg's mandate an additonal two years, pushing it further until September of 2020.

NATO allies congratulated Stoltenberg and expressed full confidence in his ability to continue his dedicated work to help NATO better cope with the security challenges of the 21st century, read a press release by the military alliance.

Stoltenberg, 58, a former Prime Minister of Norway, took up his post as NATO Secretary General on October 1, 2014. (end) nk.nam
