Pakistan- Punjab University wins 11 gold medals in National Youth Carnival


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: The Punjab University (UP) secured first position by winning 11 gold medals in National Youth Carnival (NYC) concluded here at Peshawar Sports Complex on Tuesday.

The NYC held under the aegis of Khyber Pakthunkhwa Sports and Cultural Ministry where UP teams won four silver medals while Quiad-e-Azam University Islamabad secured second position.

The winning players were awarded with Rs60,000 each while runner up were given Rs40,000 apart from medals.

Competitions were held in 30 different categories including dramas, cultural dances, paiting and qirat where teams from more than 100 educational institutions from across the countries participated.

Khyber Pakthunkhwa have won 17 gold and 14 silver medals. Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak, in his address, said that KP government considers youth a valuable asset and trying its best for their welfare.
