(MENAFN) CBS San Francisco reported the tragedy that occurred Tuesday of mayor of San Francisco Ed Lee passing away at the age of 65.
The president of San Francisco Board of Supervisors London Breed has been decided to be given the title of acting mayor.
City officials expressed their condolences in a statement, saying "it is with profound sadness and terrible grief that we confirm that Mayor Edwin M. Lee passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Anita, his two daughters, Brianna and Tania, and his family."
The news outlet reported that Lee was pronounced dead at 1:11am at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.
