(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR, 12 December: The FATA parliamentarians and opposition members have taken strong exception to removal of FATA Reforms Bill from the agenda of the National Assembly and criticised the government for this act.
Talking to media persons after the National Assembly session on Monday, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah said the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) will stage protest on daily basis if the bill was not included in Tuesday's agenda of the National Assembly. He said the minister for states and frontier regions (SAFRON) had contacted him on Thursday and sought his opinion about extension of the Supreme Court and High Court jurisdiction to FATA. He said he had agreed to the proposal. He said removal of the bill from the agenda was unfortunate.
Parliamentary Leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the parliamentary affairs minister had no solid reason to remove the bill from the agenda. He said the government is attributing the delay to technical reasons, but the fact is that it is compelled by two personalities to do so.
Member National Assembly from Khyber Agency Al-Haaj Shah Jee Gul Afridi said removal of the bill from the agenda was like a drone attack. He said it was not only an attack on the FATA people, but the whole country. He said it is the duty of the Parliament to protect the rights of citizens. However, he lamented that conspiracies are being made in the Parliament to break the country.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA from Bajaur Shahabuddin said injustice is being committed with the FATA people by making changes in the reforms bill. He said he is unable to understand why the government is finding it difficult to implement the reforms package and why the law of Pakistan cannot be implemented in the tribal areas.
Meanwhile, the PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said his party is committed to merge FATA with KP.
