Oman- Exhibition displays works by physically disabled from across the sultanate


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- An exhibition showcasing photographs, artworks and paintings by the physically disabled from across Oman was held at Muscat Grand Mall recently.

It was held under the auspices of Sayyida Hajaija al Said, chairperson of the Association for the Welfare of Disabled Children.

Titled, 'Society of All', the event was held to celebrate the International Day of Disabled Persons. It also witnessed the felicitation of social workers who have contributed to the cause of disabled in society. Samiya al Raisi, head of Rehabilitation Services Department in the Ministry of Health (MoH) said, 'The objective of the event was to give opportunity to the talents of these people and recognise their efforts in various sectors. As a society we need to give everyone a chance.'

The event was organised by the Directorate General of Specialised Medical Services in MoH and represented by the Rehabilitation Services Department, the event was held in collaboration with the Sultan Qaboos University and Hospital.

Samiya added, 'This is the first time that the ministry is organising such an event and we plan to hold it on a regular basis. The ministry has the facility and infrastructure to handle the rehabilitation centres, but our aim is to spread awareness among guardians and parents of such children on how to face the challenges involved.'
