Foreign ministers of Central Asian States, Afghanistan meet in Ashqabat


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) (Pajhwok): The foreign ministers of five Central Asian States and meet on Monday in Ashgabat on the 10th anniversary of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, according to a media report.

The meeting is planned to be held within the framework of the events taking place in the capital of Turkmenistan in honor of the 10th anniversary of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia located in Ashgabat, the Trend News Agency said.

Two international conferences titled 'Neutrality Policy and Preventive Diplomacy in International Relations: Experience of Turkmenistan and Its Importance' and 'The UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia: 10 Years of Cooperation with Central Asia for Peace and Prosperity of the Region' became the main events of the anniversary.

The UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia is a special political mission of the United Nations Organization established in 2007 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan upon the initiative of the five Central Asian states.

The role of the Center is to identify and address existing and potential threats to regional stability. In addition, the Center facilitates partnerships between the governments of Central Asia in cooperation with regional and international organizations.
