India to host the World Cup in 2023

It is good news for cricket fans in India as the country is all set to host the 13th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2023 and the 2021 Champions Trophy.

Having partially hosted the cricket's biggest tournament in 1987, 1996 and 2011, this will be the first time India will be the lone hosts for the cricketing carnival.

India was handed the 2023 World Cup in June 2013 while bagging the hosting rights for the World T20 in 2016.

2023 World cup will feature 10 teams, two of them will have to qualify though the 2022 Cricket World Cup Qualifiers

Since its inception in 1975, Team India has won the World cup twice, in 1983 and as partial hosts in 2011.

BCCI confirmed, in its Special General Meeting on Monday, that ICC Champions Trophy or the 'Mini World Cup' in which 8 Test playing nations battle it out for glory will also be hosted by India in 2021.

India were the finalists of the previous edition of the tournament earlier this year, but eventually lost to Pakistan by 180 runs.


India to welcome Afghanistan into Tests

The Number 1 Test side in the world, India are scheduled to play an inaugural Test against Afghanistan in 2019-20.

The schedule for this Test match is yet to be chalked out but this match will welcome the Asian nation into five-day cricket.

Afghanistan have played their home games in India, the last being against Ireland in March 2017.


RCA Suspension revoked
Goodbye Lalit Modi


The BCCI has also lifted the ban placed on the Rajasthan Cricket Association on the condition that former IPL head Lalit Modi stays away from its functioning.

The RCA was suspended in May 2014, when Lalit Modi was re-elected as the president of the association.

Congress leader CP Joshi is the current president of the RCA.
