The Russian airline UTair has received permission to increase the number of flights on the Moscow-Ganja route from five to seven times a week, says a protocol of the Interdepartmental Commission for the selection of carriers on international routes of Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia).
UTair obtained permission to fly on the Moscow-Ganja route in March last year. Currently, the air carrier operates flights on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
The protocol also noted that the Commission refused the request of Ural Airlines for the same route.
The head office of Utair is located at Khanty-Mansiysk Airport, while it has hubs at Surgut International Airport and Vnukovo International Airport. The airline operates scheduled domestic and international passenger services, scheduled helicopter services as well as extensive charter flights in support of the oil and gas industry across Western Siberia.
The airline's passenger fleet consists of 15 ATR 72-500 turboprop, six Boeing 737-400, 32 Boeing 737-500, 12 Boeing 737-800 and three Boeing 767-200.
Currently, Russian airlines such as Aeroflot, NordStar, Ural Airlines, UTair, IrAero and S7 Airlines are implementing flight to Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan offers numerous must-see spots, one of which is the Shahdag Winter-Summer Tourism Complex. It was recently claimed to enter the Top 3 popular resort for mountain hiking among Russia and CIS countries, according to the tourist portal TurStat.
Over the past year, Azerbaijan received over 2 million tourists, 685,000 of whom were guests from Russia. Taking into account all mentioned above, this figure is expected to rise by the end of 2016.
