Hope Qatar celebrates Annual Sports Day

Hope Qatar center for the differently abled children held its 12th Annual Sports Day at the American School of Doha last week.

Students with intellectual and physical challenges demonstrated true spirit of sportsmanship by challenging their own challenges during this program.

These students participated in various competitions that tested their speed, balance, focus, and agility.

Organised jointly with the athletics club students of American School of Doha, this year's sports day sponsored by BYTP Qatar was attended by a large number of parents and well-wishers.
Jummah Ismail Al Boeinein, former Director of Administration, Qatar Petroleum, was the chief guest for the evening. In his address to the students and parents after distributing some of the prizes, he urged them to leave no stones unturned in bringing out the best in the students irrespective of their differential abilities.

David Farmer, Athletic Activity Director of American School of Doha, was a special guest. He expressed his happiness and that of the large number of student volunteers of the American School of Doha who had organised the sports day jointly with the Hope Qatar team.

Their involvement aligned with the value of ‘compassion' that the school embodies he said. The event was also supported by Mission 20, the Qatar based youth empowerment organisation, and also by Friends of Hope, the volunteering arm of Hope Qatar.

Dr Ciby Mathew, Director of Hope Qatar thanked the parents for their involvement in the development of their children even beyond the classrooms, and encouraged them to never give up. She also informed that soon Hope Qatar will open up admissions to ensure that more students will benefit from the impactful program that the center offers.

Hope Qatar had successfully graduated its first batch of students recently. Some of them have completed 10th and 12th grades through National Open Schooling system, and some others have completed their Diplomas in Computer Applications. The uniqueness of the program at Hope being that they offer an almost near school environment to the students.
