California: Thomas Fire expand significantly as it scorches massive area


(MENAFN) Southern California devastating wildfires are said to have drastically spread as it blazed through an area larger than New York City.

In the past week, 230,000 acres were devoured by the Thomas fire in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

After it became larger through at least 50,000 acres per day while supported by strong winds, it has grown to be the fifth largest wildfire in recorded state history.
