QTA offers training for firms on tapping into Chinese market

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) is offering a training tomorrow for destination management companies (DMCs) on tapping into the Chinese market, in collaboration with Welcome Chinese, the sole official tourism certification programme recognised by the Chinese government.
The training at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, will provide DMCs with a deeper understanding of the needs of Chinese travellers and how to meet them, an overview of Chinese travel trade and insights into the Chinese travel market. It will also offer guidance on administration and contracting within the Chinese market.
An expert and representative of Welcome Chinese will also be available on Wednesday to provide one-on-one consultation with DMCs seeking additional guidance and support on how to become certified providers of tourism services to Chinese visitors to Qatar.
'These trainings form part of a collaboration between QTA and Welcome Chinese that aims to empower the hospitality, tourism and retail sectors in Qatar to meet the requirements of Chinese tourists and market themselves on Chinese tourism platforms, QTA's communication head Jawaher al-Khuzaei said.
'Since Qatar has gained Approved Destination Status (ADS) in China, individual members of the industry can now tap into the largest outbound tourism market in the world, by ensuring they are ready to provide Chinese guests with exceptional experiences, al-Khuzaei added.
Qatar was granted ADS in China in September, allowing it to receive tourist groups from China and to promote Qatar as a tourism destination within the country.
The ADS system seeks to guarantee safe and reliable tourism services for Chinese customers, from both local travel agencies and international tour operators.
Welcome Chinese helps to ensure that tourism industry members within countries that have ADS are prepared and positioned to attract and receive Chinese visitors.
The Welcome Chinese Certification is issued by the China Tourism Academy, an arm of the Chinese National Tourism Administration.
'By signing up for Welcome Chinese, tourism establishments benefit from training opportunities, visibility in the Chinese tourism market, as well as targeted online and offline marketing that directly reaches the Chinese traveller, Welcome Chinese president Jacopo Sertoli said.
'With visa-free entry for Chinese visitors, and direct flights to six cities in China, Qatar is primed to receive more visitors from this growing market, and we look forward to supporting its industry in preparing to welcome them, he added.
