Important platform for renewing loyalty, says Sheikh Nawaf


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation chairman Sheikh Nawaf bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani said that the National Day celebration represents an important platform for renewing loyalty, reinforcing national values and establishing the principles of love, peace and benevolence toward the people of the world.
He also said that the National Day reaffirms pride in belonging to this benevolent homeland.
Sheikh Nawaf said that this day is an occasion to remind people of the great efforts and achievements of the Founder of the State Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani and the leaders who followed his steps in building Qatar as a modern State that is proud of its identity, values and principles, which are firmly rooted in promoting the values of peace and coexistence.
He pointed out that the slogan of this year's celebration, 'Promise of Prosperity and Glory, represents a good omen to the people of Qatar and places an emphasis on moving forward on this approach, which does not deviate from the path of good and elevation for the nation and the citizen. He added that this statement expresses full confidence in a more promising future and more development, strength, prosperity and dignity for the Qatari people.
Regarding Qatar's handling of the current Gulf crisis, he praised the wisdom of the leadership in dealing with the crisis, its resilience in the face of the crisis' repercussions and its complete success locally and internationally.
He said Qatar excelled in this crisis because of its flexibility, wisdom, confidence and important partnerships internationally and regionally.
Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Foundation has implemented many charitable projects and activities and provided a lot of humanitarian assistance, including financial assistance, which consists of monthly guarantees, repaying of debts, covering medical expenses, constructing educational buildings and supporting educational campaigns.
In terms of external activities, the Foundation carries out basic development projects related to education, health and other fields in many countries. In 2017, it established the foundation stone for a number of development projects in Morocco; these projects included Sheikha Sharifa bint Ibrahim Al Nasr Hospital, which was began in Marrakesh at a cost of QR70mn and is due to be completed by the end of 2019, as well as dialysis centres and a home for the elderly.
The Foundation, also, prepared a Primary Health Care CentrE in Al Azraq in Jordan in collaboration with Arabian Medical Relief (AMR). Additionally, the Foundation opened the Hamad bin Jassim Industrial Training Center in India to serve the population of Maharashtra at an estimated cost of QR3 million in co-operation with government agencies there.
The Foundation handed over 800 housing units from Sheikh Jassim Model City in Sri Lanka, which costed a total of QR40mn, as a part of the housing projects implemented by the Foundation in different countries.
As a part of its partnership with UNHCR, the Foundation signed an agreement to provide emergency healthcare to Yemeni refugees in Somalia, which included providing a financial support of $250,000. (QNA)
