Sunday rehearsal of Washington crossing the Delaware River cancelled

(MENAFN) It was announced that even though the customary reenactment of George Washington crossing the Delaware River remains scheduled on Christmas Day, the dress rehearsal set for Sunday has been called off.

The cancellation is said to have occurred due to Washington Crossing Historic Park officials warning over water level in the river to be excessively low to guarantee safe passage for the general, his Continental Army soldiers as well as pricey model boats of the park.

The Morning Call of Allentown, Pennsylvania was told by Joseph Capone "it is a disappointment, but we always err on the side of safety for the reenactors and the public - and for maintaining the equipment for future years."
