Nahid Sultana from Dhaka wins Shera Rondhonshilpi 2017 title


(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) In an exciting Grand Finale, Nahid Sultana from Dhaka Division was crowned as the Meizan-Malaysian Palm Oil Shera Rondhonshilpi 2017. Humaira Binte Shafi and Saima Hasan both from Rangpur division became became 1st and 2nd runner up respectively. Grand Finale and the Award Ceremony of Shera Rondhpnshilpi 2017, most popular culinary talent hunt competition of the country was telecast on December 8 on ATN Bangla. Earlier 12 episodes of the competition were also telecast by the channel on every Friday. Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Media Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister; Dr. Mahfujur Rahman, Chairman ATN Bangla and ATN News; Akhtaruz Zaman Khan Kabir, Chairman Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation; Dr. Md. Nasir Uddin Chief Executive Officer ,Bangladesh Tourism Board; Faisal Mahmud, Marketing Manager, Bangladesh Edible Oil Limited ; Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor, The Bangladesh Monitor spoke on the occasion among others. The ceremony held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka was attended by a large number of people including corporate and cultural personalities. More than two thousand culinary artists took part in the competition by sending over 5,000 recipes and among them 32 contestants were invited to participate in the Reality show. Participants had go through several phases of the competition to reach the final round. Nahid Sultana and Morsheda Nahar of Dhaka Division, Saima Hasan and Humaira Binte Shafi from Rangpur Division and Sajeda Ruma from Sylhet Division fought for the crown in the final round. Renowned culinary experts and nutritionists Kalpana Rahman, Lobi Rahman, Tahera Wahid, Nafij Islam Lipi , Nur Ayesha Chaklader,professional chefs Jaheda Begum Head of Food and Beverage ,National Hotel & Tourism Training Institute, Julean Sital Botlero Executive Sous Chef Le Meridien Dhaka and James Rozario Sous Chef, Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden served as judges in the competition. In the Grand Finale competitors had to make a 'Quick Bite' , using the ingredients supplied by the organisers. Chairman of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, CEO of Bangladesh Tourism Board and Paul Flett, General Manager of Pancific Sonargaon Dhaka played the role of guest judges, adding an extra color to the competition. 33 year old Nahid Sultana, basically a house wife said after winning the crown, ' It was my long cherished dream to win this prestigious title and today finally made it . I am grateful to my family for their inspiration and support over the years.' Talking about her future plan she said,' Presently i am running a cooking school in a limited scale. I want to establish a culinary institute and a restaurant. This recognition will help me in realising my plan'. First Runner Up Humaira also won the prestigious ' Prof. Siddiqua Kabir Trophy' for outstanding nutrition knowledge. It may be mentioned here that The Bangladesh Monitor introduced the trophy in 2013 recognise one of the competitors for best nutrition knowledge. Shera Rondhonshilpi Competition was introduced by the Bangladesh Monitor in 2005. This year, the 13th version of the competition was sponsored by Malaysian Palm Oil Council and Meizan Fortified Palm Olein of Bangladesh Edible Oil Limited. National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute, Sarif Kitchen Star, Meena Bazar, Prems Collections supported the event as partners. Pan Pacific Sonargaon was the hospitality partner of the Grand Finale.ATN Bangla and The Bangladesh Monitor jointly organised the competition. Shera Rondhonshilpi 2018 will be announced shortly and recipes will be invited from the interested culinary artiststs for participation in the popular TV reality show.
